Richard quickly threw his shield up and braced himself for the hit, but he hadn't been strong enough. The second the beam smashed into the wall of light in front of him it exploded powerfully and shattered the shield instantly, tossing Richard into the air and landing heavily against a nearby tree.
In all the times he had used his Light Magic to block an attack he had never felt something quite like this. It was like holding the lid to trashcan up and letting someone run into it with a car going fifty miles per hour. It literally knocked him senseless and he struggled back to his feet as the world spun around him in a dizzying display.
'Go home!' the voice yelled out again and another beam of strange red magic cracked through the air like a laser. It narrowly missed him again and slammed into another tree somewhere in the distance with a shattering explosion that shook the ground under his unsteady feet.
This time Richard had taken a good look at where the beam had come from and he shot his own beam of white magic in the same direction, hoping to catch the person off guard and knocking them out. Instead he saw his beam get deflected harmlessly away as the light of the attack illuminated a face in the darkness. In the very next second, before his brain could even comprehend what he had just seen, a red ball of magic shot out of the darkness and struck him on the left wrist. It crashed into his bracer and ripped it from his wrist, tossing it into the snow a few feet back as Richard was knocked off his feet for the third time that night.
All the magic he had been building up and holding in his bracer suddenly flooded back into his body and he felt a cold air sink into his skin as he smashed into the snow. In a fit of panic he jumped to his hands and knees and scurried over to the bracer, picking it up in his hand. He was just about to put it back on his wrist when he was kicked onto his back and someone sat on his chest, separating the bracer in his hand from his left wrist.
'Richard, you don't belong here!' the beautiful blonde girl sitting on top of him said softly and he felt a soft hand rub over his face. 'Why didn't you throw away that bracer like I asked?'
'M…m.. May?!' Richard cried out and she smiled sweetly down at him. Her green eyes held a cold and dangerous edge to them though. 'How are you here? What the fuck is going on?'
'Shh, quiet now,' she shushed him and put a finger over his lips. That's when Richard noticed something that should be even more impossible; attached to her right wrist was a golden bracer with the same infinity insgina etched into it that was on his. 'We wouldn't want your friends to know where you are, would we?'
Now that she mentioned his friends Richard could hear his name being called out loudly in woods not far from him. Both Daiya and Lythia were looking for him and he only hoped that they had saved the Princess first. They couldn’t lose her, not after the Queen had been murdered and Aura had been badly injured.
'I have missed you so much,' May sighed happily on top of him and before Richard could say anything she pressed her lips against his, shoving her warm tongue deep into his mouth as she forcefully kissed him.
'Did you stage this attack against the palace?' he asked in all seriousness after she broke the kiss off and moved her hair out of both of their faces, tucking it behind her left ear.
'Of course not. I have no reason to attack the royal family, Richard. I'm just here for you.'
'Me… why? How did you even get here?'
'Hush now sweetheart. Those questions aren't important.' Once more May kissed him and he struggled to throw her off but found that he was too weak. She had him pinned down in such a way that he couldn't move and he couldn't fight her off.
'Richard!' he heard Daiya yell out from somewhere close and a second later he heard two sets of feet crunching through the heavy piles of snow. 'We have Reiea! Wha-'
The rest of her words were cut off as May suddenly turned around and used the bracer on her own wrist to shoot a ball of red magic towards the voices in the woods. A massive explosion ripped through the still night air and a second later Richard could see fire and purple beams flying over their heads. Spells hissed and sizzled as they ricocheted harmlessly away from May and a moment later he heard both girls groan as a red spell hit them. Richard heard Daiya and Lythia fall to the snow hard and after that all he could hear was their heavy breathing.
'So annoying!' May sighed like what had just happened was nothing to worry about. 'Can't people just let us have a heartwarming reunion in peace?'
'What did you just do to them?' Richard demanded and once more tried to throw her small body off of him. It still didn't work.
'Don't worry, I just made sure they couldn't try and stop me anymore. They're still awake.'
'May… why are you here? Why did you attack me?!'
'Please don't be so loud, I need to concentrate to send you home. That's why I came looking for you; you don't belong in this world so I am going to send you back to earth. Now be quiet please.'
All Richard could do was stare up at his friend in disbelief as she began to chant words of power under her breath. A stiff wind ripped into the quiet forest they sat in and Richard could feel a foreign magic seep into his body and grab hold of him, stopping him from moving or even speaking. May lifted her right arm into the sky and the golden bracer that was an exact copy of the one he held in his right hand shone brightly as magic began to build up in it.
'You'll be back where you belong in a moment, Richard,' May said after she finished her incantation and in the blink of an eye she placed her hand on his chest as the magic built up in it raged through the bracer and deep into his body.
Like the first time he had ever traveled from one planet to another he felt the world start to slip away from under his back and it felt like he was falling into nothingness. Incomprehensible sound assaulted his ears as his eyes rolled into the back of his head and blinding pain coursed through his body. He wanted to scream in agony but nothing came out of his throat. A second later he felt nothing more as he fell unconscious and appeared in his apartment back on earth, steam rising from his unmoving body.

Hi everyone!! Mishikail here. Captius is currently sleeping after being up all night writing this chapter so he said I could post it using his account. I hope you all enjoyed it.
I know we threw a lot at you in this chapter and then just ended it saying this portion of the story was over, and you're probably thinking to yourself "What the hell? What about all the unanswered questions?" Well have no fear because Eternal Awakening was to get you used to the setting, let you meet some of the big characters, and so on. They will all return in Eternal Darkness and the questions will start to be answered.
Originally Captius was going to take a few days off to recharge before writing chapter one of Eternal Darkness but he and I had some creative differences last night and had a small argument which he lost, so his rest has been revoked hehe. As soon as he wakes up I am putting him back to work and it should be out in the next day or two.
Some of you have said that the wait between chapters is too long, and for that I am sorry. Sadly there's only so fast Captius can write and then I go over what he has written to see if we can change anything and so on. We are going as fast as we can so please bear with us while you wait.
Anyways I would like to thank you for all the support you have shown me and Captius and I would just like to say I never expected any of this. It's been pretty amazing and I can't wait to tell you more about this story.
